'The Song Once Eternal' deals with duality of the individual and of romantic love; in both experiencing a sense of loss and despair, and in doing so contemplating what it is to see one's life from beyond the living plane as though from the perspective of a stranger.

This conceptual pathway begins in majestic dread and crosses through moments of peacefulness and acceptance yet with an underlying turmoil. These haunted emotions are conveyed in a music that is polystylistic; post-industrial horror ('Successful in the Skull Coil', 'Vision Structure of Eligos'), longing and unsettled beauty ('The Ideation Coil', 'To See As You See') and alternately dreamy or romantic rest ('The Cyril Rose which Exhales without Remorse', 'Some Evenings Never').

All music written, performed and recorded by Cauchemar Chemin in February - March 2022.

Instrumentation includes Yamaha piano, harmonium, glockenspiel, singing bowls, bowed metals, and Crumar Mojo 61 organ and electric pianos.
